Hello English Teachers
!
Last Saturday March 31st, at Lancaster Hotel in Tlalnepantla, some of us went to the Macmillan Forum "La RES se convierte en un proyecto propio". There it was discussed the concept of Competence. Manuel Luna Figueroa, Author of "Rally" and "Rally On" text books said:
Competence is the capacity to mobilize knowledge, that is, “to put into practice” in a real and existential situation (Luna, 2007).
If this concept can be defined in these terms it is important to consider next:
a) Knowledge must be put into practice
b) That knowledge should be used in real and existential situations
Now the discussion going around next question:
What can we do as teachers to improve students’ capacities
to put knowledge into practice using it in real and existential situations?
Invite any other teacher to participate in this colaborative "edublog".

Hello:
I agree with Vygotsky, he said: children learn when something it's important and exciting for them, and it becames in an real experience. If we work with thier interestings and likes, acording with the society's changes, we can create real experiences: for example, chat, visit turistics places and interview foreign people, read magazines, etc. I think it colud be possible, let's try.
Nice vactions.
Hi Víctor & Everybody!!
Well, it's clear learning theories put on the table that knowledge must be related with real students' context, as Monique said. In my opinion, teachers should share teen´s experiences, likes, language, music, etc, even if we don´t like them or disagree. I mean; if we want to be on the teenagers' top of mind, we have to offer an attractive proposal wich means to be in touch with their real world. So, we are lucky people!! We can be young people forever, discovering the world as teens do and growing up with them!! It's an adventure... I know we can. We`re on the way... isn`t it? Keep smiling!
BONJOUR VICTOR COMME TU TE TROUVES J'ESPÈRE QUE TU SOIS HEUREUX
Hello partners:
I think the only way of improving the students' abilities is practicing more and more, teachers ought to be involved or at least informed about our teenagers interests. Give all classes different tasks although it means more job for us. Let them more freedom for researching in any topic they like in order they can bring further information but refering to any matter of the programme. If we have more audiovisual materials or interactive ones, probably we can wake up our students minds or thinkings. Expose students to American, British, Canadian Cultures, etc., let's remember when we were 12, 13 14 years. Anyway our main tool as teachers is creativity. See you soon and good luck.
Thanks,
